She said it was time to "try again" - whatever that means. He was younger maybe. Tougher likely. Smarter - yes. He felt like he needed one more chance. So he took it. It was as though there was something he'd forgotten to say.Not sure where the words would come from, he stood. With a renewed sense of determination to make them understand he began his speech. As though he were speaking to a fresh audience his words flowed smoothly.
"Good evening ladies and gentleman. You're all gathered here tonight for an important event. You know that I am here because of you and so I implore you to engage in this evening and in this speech with me as I tell you my story. . . " He consulted his note cards but had no familiarity with the things he'd written. Was it his penmanship? Someone else must have written it for him. He'd have to ask her later. He paused for a slight moment because he couldn't think of her name. And then he heard the words coming from his mouth "I haven't lived through all of this for nothing. My accident was horrific and though my memory was all but erased, I am alive and I stand here tonight to tell you . . . Whose memory? Where am I? Why is everyone in the room starring at me?"
Back in college, in 2004 when blogging was hardly even a thing yet, I was here. Blogging before blogging meant anything to anyone. You can look in the archives for my past writings, but it was much more like a journal in the past. When we started fundraising, I messed around with the idea of launching something new for this new phase of our journey but actually hated that idea. I am a sum of all of my life and so much of it is here already. So I'm keeping it here. At least for now.
My main focus these days is blogging about our newest journey into the bizarre and wonderful world of gestational surrogacy. Posts dated 2013 and forward will trend heavily toward that journey. I don't promise everything I write will be about though. There might be other things that sneak in occasionally.
Please come along our journey with us. As the saying goes, "The more, the merrier!"
