Back in college, in 2004 when blogging was hardly even a thing yet, I was here. Blogging before blogging meant anything to anyone. You can look in the archives for my past writings, but it was much more like a journal in the past. When we started fundraising, I messed around with the idea of launching something new for this new phase of our journey but actually hated that idea. I am a sum of all of my life and so much of it is here already. So I'm keeping it here. At least for now.

My main focus these days is blogging about our newest journey into the bizarre and wonderful world of gestational surrogacy. Posts dated 2013 and forward will trend heavily toward that journey. I don't promise everything I write will be about though. There might be other things that sneak in occasionally.

Please come along our journey with us. As the saying goes, "The more, the merrier!"

The Things I Miss

I'm in Elgin this evening at my parent's house for an evening with the fam. I don't much miss living here - not even at all really. But there are two things here I do miss.

The first of these I am going to play just as soon as I get done posting this blog. It is my piano. I have been preparing for a friend's wedding this week and realizing that while I also love my keyboard and am blessed to have both a piano and a keyboard, I'm very sad that my piano must for now remain living at my parent's home.

The second thing I miss is the expanded wardrobe I used to have living at home. With a mother and a sister who are similarly figured, we were able to share clothes with relative ease. Lately I've been frustrated with my wardrobe, feeling like I'm wearing the same things over and over and over again. (I know, I'm being such a girl.) As I donned a sweatshirt from my sister's closet a moment ago, to keep from freezing (don't miss that dad keeps the heat at a chilly 68 degrees) I realized she has a lot of cooler clothing than I have.

Truth be told, I love living on my own. Even though I don't have a piano and my friends must all think I only have four sweaters.
