Back in college, in 2004 when blogging was hardly even a thing yet, I was here. Blogging before blogging meant anything to anyone. You can look in the archives for my past writings, but it was much more like a journal in the past. When we started fundraising, I messed around with the idea of launching something new for this new phase of our journey but actually hated that idea. I am a sum of all of my life and so much of it is here already. So I'm keeping it here. At least for now.

My main focus these days is blogging about our newest journey into the bizarre and wonderful world of gestational surrogacy. Posts dated 2013 and forward will trend heavily toward that journey. I don't promise everything I write will be about though. There might be other things that sneak in occasionally.

Please come along our journey with us. As the saying goes, "The more, the merrier!"

Mashed Potatoes

I've always liked to eat them.
I've always liked to make them.
I've never thought to throw them
in a food fight,
but what fun that could be!

I've always liked the texture
I've always fancied making it
not to lumpy, not too smooth
Helps the way they taste
on the throat going down
and as leftovers
the very next day.

I don't mix anything in them
I like to just mash them up
To you who put on gravy
or pollute with corn
I say have issues
Just butter,
salt,
and pepper
please
All mixed in at once while making.

The mashing has always been
my favorite part.
Grandma does it with a hand-mixer
Tonight I did it with a masher.
It doesn't really matter.
I think I like watching them
take a different form.

Okay - sometimes you just have to write about stupid stuff to get things going again. Example #1...Mashed Potatoes. Have you ever noticed though that making mashed potatoes is fun?
