Visiting the Erickson home was splendid. Not only is it a fun new home with freshly painted walls (are you guys done yet??) but it has one of my favorite people living inside it. The experience we had nearly losing our lives at Garden of the Gods really drew us closer, I think. Here is a lesson I learned from trek up a mountain on dirt road: if you care for your life, don't get into a borrowed truck driven by Jeremiah and "just see" where the road leads. He drove that same road in a VW Bug.
Other than the moments of panic when we thought we might plummet to our death as he turned the truck around on the narrow road, I thoroughly enjoyed my trip. One of the highlights was drinking from the spring in the "hippy-Satan-worshiping town" of Manitiou (Crystal, correct my spelling on that for me via email, will you?). Don't worry, I don't think sampling spring water from there affected my walk with God. There was also Friday evening, the "concert." Well, it was quite a performance, if not a concert. Jon Troast is cool and everyone should by his stuff.
Indeed the best blessing was to look into the eyes of a trusted friend who has been away for too long. I think I most cherished our prayers together this weekend. Well, getting to know Binky's mother-in-law better was a blast. (and of course, learning why you are called Binky.) It's amazing what a small room and a couple buckets of paint does to people.
So that about does it for the Springs of Colorado. Except for the little balcony with the perfect mountain view.
Back in college, in 2004 when blogging was hardly even a thing yet, I was here. Blogging before blogging meant anything to anyone. You can look in the archives for my past writings, but it was much more like a journal in the past. When we started fundraising, I messed around with the idea of launching something new for this new phase of our journey but actually hated that idea. I am a sum of all of my life and so much of it is here already. So I'm keeping it here. At least for now.
My main focus these days is blogging about our newest journey into the bizarre and wonderful world of gestational surrogacy. Posts dated 2013 and forward will trend heavily toward that journey. I don't promise everything I write will be about though. There might be other things that sneak in occasionally.
Please come along our journey with us. As the saying goes, "The more, the merrier!"
