My to-do-list was interrupted in a few ways today. I ran out to Target to grab a couple of things I need to finish the package I was getting together to send to my soldier. (Letters have now turned into care packages as well. I love getting them together. He loves getting them. It's a win-win situation for all involved. Basically for my soldier and I since we are the ones involved.)
I got there only to discover I forgot my wallet at home. Turned around and a half hour later repeated the same trip. Wallet in hand this time. Target trip complete.
Then, package finished I headed to the post office. Only I realized I didn't exactly know where it was. So I called my mom, who had the day off for Columbus Day since all her daycare clients are teachers. She told me where she thought one might be located near my new place of residence, but she was wrong. So home again I came to check online. Quickly located the post office near my house and hopped back in the car, package in hand.
Arriving at the post office I took note that there were very few cars in the lot. Caring little, I proceeded to the door, proudly boasting my package and then to the inner door.Which was locked. Lights were out. Inner thoughts: "Ya big dummy! It's Columbus Day. Post office closed." Slightly defeated, package still in hand, I got back in my car and went back home.
My last to-do item today was to paint my bathroom. Which didn't get done because my migraine has been trying to come back. So instead of painting I took a nap while playing a DVD. Then Arlene showed up and we made dinner and went to see Flightplan. Good movie...only I missed the end cuz my soldier called me. (Did I mention we talk on the phone sometimes too?) I told him the story of my forgetfulness and he got a laugh out of it. Though I also plan on sending him this post. It was good to chat with him. Better than getting to see the end of the movie. I'll have to get it on video though...I am kinda curious.
I don't think there are any postal holidays I might forget tomorrow. I will go back to the post office in the morning.
Back in college, in 2004 when blogging was hardly even a thing yet, I was here. Blogging before blogging meant anything to anyone. You can look in the archives for my past writings, but it was much more like a journal in the past. When we started fundraising, I messed around with the idea of launching something new for this new phase of our journey but actually hated that idea. I am a sum of all of my life and so much of it is here already. So I'm keeping it here. At least for now.
My main focus these days is blogging about our newest journey into the bizarre and wonderful world of gestational surrogacy. Posts dated 2013 and forward will trend heavily toward that journey. I don't promise everything I write will be about though. There might be other things that sneak in occasionally.
Please come along our journey with us. As the saying goes, "The more, the merrier!"
