Back in college, in 2004 when blogging was hardly even a thing yet, I was here. Blogging before blogging meant anything to anyone. You can look in the archives for my past writings, but it was much more like a journal in the past. When we started fundraising, I messed around with the idea of launching something new for this new phase of our journey but actually hated that idea. I am a sum of all of my life and so much of it is here already. So I'm keeping it here. At least for now.

My main focus these days is blogging about our newest journey into the bizarre and wonderful world of gestational surrogacy. Posts dated 2013 and forward will trend heavily toward that journey. I don't promise everything I write will be about though. There might be other things that sneak in occasionally.

Please come along our journey with us. As the saying goes, "The more, the merrier!"

Who'd You Choose?

Yesterday I was playing with one of the kids I watch. His toy of choice: Mr. Potato Head. Somedays I love my job. (Others, I'm so ready to quit... which is for an entirely separate blog.)

As we placed and replaced facial and body parts onto the beige base that somehow resembles a potato, I got lost deeply in thought. (I'm still greatly intrigued by his ability to store all his parts, however, the kids these days get him in a cool plastic carrying case and have no idea what that is for. How tragic!) This little play exchange allowed me to recall something I was once asked.

The question:
"Would you rather hang out with Mr. Potato Head, Barbie or the Smurfs? Why?"

Not in the mood for telling my answer, I am in the mood for asking. Who'd you choose? And why?

I would create intrigue and interesting plot devices by having Barbie leave He-man and the wrestling guy for Mr. Potato Head. They could have a good relationship because she could change him all she wanted. He-Man wasn't as flexible. But, then again, sword-wielding steroid using blonde guys in furry tighty whiteys rarely are. I don't think she liked the castle, either. Oh well....next week on Telemundo...

Wow... Let's see... I think I could love or hate hanging out with any of them depending on the day. Barbie's ditziness might drive me crazy but at the same time she's got a wicked fashion sense so for the days when I'm craving a shopping spree mall crawl, she'd be the girl to be with. And as for the Smurfs, the days for them would be my super hyped-up on caffeine days, cause let's face it, I'm singing and bouncing my way through those days anyway so I might as well surround myself with like minded blue midgets. As for Potato Head, I'd give him my I-can't-decide-what-type-of-mood-I'm-in days which is probably six out of seven in any given week.

Great question. When do we get your response?
