This week I've been praying a lot. This week I've been thinking about prayer a lot. Specifically about my prayer life lately. Just in the sense that I think it's time for a boost. I told a friend just this week that I feel as though God is calling me to a different threshold in prayer.
And then it happened. Confirmation. Just a little thing that made me realize I was right. He is calling me to different threshold for my prayer life.
It may not have been that little actually. It's quite a compliment and I'm reeling still from it's effect, but I'm gonna wait until I pray through it to write about the resolve.
Meanwhile if anyone has any ideas on some creative and practical ideas for fasting that don't include food I'm incredibly open to suggestions at the moment.
Back in college, in 2004 when blogging was hardly even a thing yet, I was here. Blogging before blogging meant anything to anyone. You can look in the archives for my past writings, but it was much more like a journal in the past. When we started fundraising, I messed around with the idea of launching something new for this new phase of our journey but actually hated that idea. I am a sum of all of my life and so much of it is here already. So I'm keeping it here. At least for now.
My main focus these days is blogging about our newest journey into the bizarre and wonderful world of gestational surrogacy. Posts dated 2013 and forward will trend heavily toward that journey. I don't promise everything I write will be about though. There might be other things that sneak in occasionally.
Please come along our journey with us. As the saying goes, "The more, the merrier!"

I have done "media fasts" that have been amazingly effective. Just choose the media that occupies the most of your time (radio in the car, CDs-even Christian ones, t.v., news papers, magazines, movies, etc.) and use that time differently for a few days, weeks or even months. I am always awed at how sensitive I am to God (and to the "worldliness") during and/or right after I fast. God can speak a lot into a small amount of time if you set it aside specifically for Him to do so.
